The Lake County Women's Coalition honored Women Who Advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the annual Women's History Month luncheon on Saturday.  Each LCWC member organization is invited to nominate a woman who exemplifies the theme.  AAUW-Waukegan honored Katie Rinehart and GFWC Zion Woman's Club honored Deb Will, both of whom are long-time friends.

Weekly update: celebrations, a few bargains, and happy blocks from With Strings Attached

We had a heat wave for precisely two days last week.  It got up to the high 90s with high humidity on Wednesday and Thursday.  Modern meteorology is truly remarkable and just as they predicted, the front came through Thursday evening and the temperature dropped 20 degrees.

We recalled another hot August 23 -- our wedding in 1980 in Pittsburg, Kansas.  There was a drought as well as excessive heat.  This year we celebrated by going out for dinner.

Thursday evening the Lake County Women's Coalition observed Women's Equality Day (passage of the 19th Amerndment) with a presentation by ...

Weekly update: stash report, OMG, and more from With Strings Attached

The Lake County Women's Coalition celebrated Women's History Month on Saturday.  "Women who tell our stories" is the 2023 WHM theme.  Each LCWC member organization honored a Lake County woman who has done just that.    The Zion Woman's Club chose Zion writer Sandy Dickson and AAUW-Waukegan Area Branch chose historian Diana Dretske.

Actor Jenny Riddle portrayed Barbara Walters based on Walters' autobiography Audition.

Weekly update: out and about, in the studio, and reading from With Strings Attached

The Lake County Women's Coalition held its annual Women's History Month luncheon on Saturday.  It was so nice to see AAUW and GFWC friends among the attendees. (The 2020 luncheon was one of the last in-person events before the Covid shutdown.)

Weekly update: Luncheon winnings and a concert, RSC teal, Frolic dispatched, and the next project from With Strings Attached

The Lake County Women's Coalition Women's History Month Celebration was Saturday. The theme was "Valiant Women of the Vote in Lake County."  The Zion Woman's Club honoree was my friend and former coworker Rosemary who spearheaded the voter registration program at the library. The AAUW honoree was Sally who has coordinated AAUW's voter registration program and moderated many candidate forums.

There is a silent auction and raffle to raise funds for LCWC scholarships for women over 30 studying at the College of Lake County. They awarded three this year.

I contributed Crystal Chain (which I made ...
